• Location: Harborne, Birmingham
• Salary: £12.88 per hour
• Hours: 15 hours per week (Split shifts between 07:00 – 17:30 on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday)
• Contract: Permanent

Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Driver will provide safe, reliable and person-centred transport for individuals accessing Focus Birmingham’s services. Based in Harborne, you will transport passengers to and from appointments, activities and community settings, ensuring each journey is comfortable, timely and supportive of individual needs.

You will be responsible for supporting individuals in and out of the vehicle where required, ensuring their safety at all times and delivering a positive, respectful experience. This includes adapting your approach to meet the needs of people with disabilities, including those living with sight loss and complex needs.

As part of the Transport team, you will carry out routine vehicle checks, maintain cleanliness and safety standards, and report any defects or incidents promptly. You will also maintain accurate records relating to journeys and vehicle use, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and road safety regulations.

Working closely with colleagues, families and service users, you will help ensure a smooth and supportive transport service. Promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing will be at the heart of everything you do.

Person Specification

Essential

• Full, current UK driving licence with no more than 6 points
• D1 entitlement or PCV licence (if tested after January 1997)
• Safe and confident driving ability (minibus experience desirable)
• Friendly, approachable and professional manner
• Understanding of working with adults with disabilities
• Good communication skills
• Reliable, punctual and flexible approach to work

Desirable

• Experience driving in a care, community or support setting
• Experience supporting individuals with visual impairments or complex needs
• Basic knowledge of safeguarding and health & safety practices
